As you begin the countdown to your baby's due date, the excitement builds. During this time, you may have questions about your upcoming stay in our ValleyCare Birth Center. Here's some helpful information to help you prepare.
What to Bring
One good way to prepare for your stay at the Birth Center is to pack your hospital bag. It's a good idea to pack your items so they're ready to go a few weeks before your due date.
Remember: You will need a rear-facing car seat for your newborn to safely ride home from the hospital. If you are not sure how to install or use your car seat, you can call your local police department, call 866.SEAT.CHECK (866.732.8243) or visit seatcheck.org.
Preregister Online for Scheduled Services
You can preregister for your scheduled maternity procedures online. We ask that you submit your preregistration form no less than two days before your scheduled procedure. Preregistering as early as possible will save you time when you arrive at the hospital.
You can also get the preregistration form from your obstetrician or from the ValleyCare Admitting Office. The Admitting Office can also help with questions you may have about your insurance coverage before your baby is born.
When You Arrive
When you get to the hospital, please enter through the emergency admitting entrance.
A member of our team will take you to your birthing suite. We'll help you get comfortable. Then your labor and delivery nurse will review your birth plan, assess your labor and notify your obstetrician of your labor progress.
Post-Delivery Special Celebration Meal
To help you mark the joyous occasion of your child's birth, we offer you a special celebration meal. We'll bring this four-course meal to your room to share with your spouse or significant other. You can request this special dining experience whenever you feel that you are ready to celebrate.
If you need anything at all, just let us know. Our highly attentive nursing team will take great care of you, your baby and any person you want with you during your stay.
Our visiting policies are designed with your needs and comfort in mind. Visiting hours in ValleyCare Birth Center are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., except while you are in labor.
Your birth partner is welcome to be with you at any time.
In order to protect our patients, visitors who show signs of cough, cold or other illness will not be allowed to enter the Birth Center.
Our team will prepare you and your baby to safely leave the hospital. Both you and your baby will get a checkup on the morning of your discharge. And your nurse will give you instructions to follow when you go home.
If you have any questions about what happens after you leave the hospital, please don't hesitate to call us. You may also fill out our online form to contact the Birth Center team.
