Laboratory

ValleyCare Laboratory offers outpatient laboratory services including comprehensive clinical and anatomic pathology on both the Pleasanton and Livermore medical campuses.

ValleyCare Laboratory uses state-of-the-art techniques, instrumentation and data-processing to deliver professional and accurate laboratory services, which are backed by extensive quality assurance programs. We are accredited by The Joint Commission. Accreditation and licensing assures you that the testing we provide meets the highest standards. All of ValleyCare's laboratory employees are licensed or credentialed and they are required to participate in continuing education to keep abreast of the newest practices in the laboratory field.

Quality patient care focus: ValleyCare Laboratory is a hospital-based lab with a focus on accurate, high-quality test results and attention to safe and effective patient care.

Local testing and quick results: ValleyCare lab testing is processed at our main lab on the Pleasanton campus. Most of the tests are performed right here on the same day of service; specialty testing is sent to a high-quality reference lab.

Electronic medical records: Outpatient testing performed at ValleyCare is included in the hospital medical record electronic system and is available to your care providers whenever you have services here at the hospital. Medical staff physicians can also access these lab results from their offices through a secure electronic connection.

We provide a wide range of testing services, including:

  • Comprehensive diagnostic testing to monitor health and detect disease conditions, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis
  • Microbiology, parasitology, mycology and molecular testing on site
  • Transfusion services for testing blood products for administration during treatment
  • EKG (electrocardiogram) testing to record the heart's electrical activity and help diagnose problems such as heart attack, arrhythmia and heart failure

A lab requisition or physician order is required for all laboratory tests and services.
