Newborn Care

Newborn and doctor

Our collaboration with Stanford Children's Health provides for inpatient pediatric hospitalists at ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to attend your delivery and care for your baby at the time of birth. Care of your newborn will then be transferred to your private pediatrician.

At ValleyCare, your baby will "room-in" with you to facilitate bonding and effective feeding. This is a healthy choice for families because it lets you care for your new baby and supports your transition to home.

Newborn safety and security

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

The 10-bed, Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery is under the direction of Stanford Children's Health neonatologists, who are specially trained physicians in the care of newborns and especially complex and high-risk situations. Babies who require a higher level of care due to their medical condition are cared for in the NICU. Our collaboration with Stanford Children's Health keeps these babies here in the Tri-Valley and close to home.

Safety and Security

At ValleyCare the safety and security of you and your baby are our top priorities. We have an extensive program to ensure that your baby is safe and secure during your hospital stay. Your nurse will review safety and security measures with you when you are admitted.
